Product design is a fast paced discipline, and outcomes are significantly affected by external influences such as trends, changes to manufacturing processes, innovations in materials and the ability of companies to identify potential markets. You’ll learn
to develop your personal approach to product design through experimentation, industry research and testing.
You’ll will learn and use conceptual, detailed, systematic and methodical approaches to research and the design process, while developing the knowledge and skills to ensure their designs are feasible, functional and effective. And contribute to a developing awareness of market influence, with an emphasis on advanced approaches such as quality function deployment and value engineering. The course focus on feasibility and the connectedness of the user needs, design and manufacture provides you with the skills to meet the dynamic requirements of contemporary product design.
This program prepare you to gain the skills for art, graphics, design or engineering, this innovative program offers a perfect balance of creativity, design thinking, manufacturing and materials, and commercial awareness. Programme focuses on the relationship between products and users, exploring ergonomics, usability principles and materials. The transferable skills learnt on this course enable you to apply for a range of careers within the broader creative industries including roles in: product design, design consultancy, design engineering, interior design, special effects, exhibition design, human factors and usability, user-experience (design UX), service design, prototyping and specialist model making, advertising, product packaging and POS (point of sale), product marketing.
You will benefit from, flexibility to move between locations globally, long and short-term internships, live projects, simulations, hearing from and working with experts and industry mentors. You will spend most of your time in work integrated learning. Upon completion of the first two years you may directly join one of our partner universities in UK or through Pearson university partners in 100+ countries in 300 universities across the world.
