Mechatronic Engineering
Build a foundation in engineering and technology before progressing towards an international degree.
Overview
The most remarkable machines are those that sense, think and move as one. This programme teaches you to create them.
Mechatronics unites mechanics, electronics, computing and control in a single discipline, the engineering behind robotics, automation, medical devices and the intelligent products that define modern life. It is a degree for those who see beauty in a system that simply works.
Your first two years unfold at KCIC, Chennai, earning a UK-regulated Higher National Diploma in Engineering. Engineering design, mathematics and science form your foundation, refined through practical projects and laboratory work.
Then, two years in Belfast at Ulster University. You enter the second year of a Bachelor of Engineering designed with employers and accredited by both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, studying control, embedded systems, electronics and mechatronic design.
You graduate with the full BEng (Hons) Mechatronic Engineering from Ulster University. An engineering degree recognised by two of the world’s leading professional institutions.
The School of Engineering Where machines are taught to think, and engineers are taught to lead.
At Ulster, mechatronics is built around a connected programme of study, with each semester building on the last, so that you graduate as a well-rounded engineer ready for a wide range of industrial roles.
Hands-on laboratory sessions run through every year, complemented by case studies and group projects, culminating in a major individual project in your final year.
The degree carries the recognition of the profession: accreditation by IMechE and the IET on behalf of the Engineering Council, fully meeting the academic requirement for Incorporated Engineer and partially meeting it for Chartered Engineer.
