Explore human behaviour, cognition and research while preparing for further study in psychology and related fields.
Overview
Why do we think as we do, feel as we do, and become who we are? This programme is for those who want to understand the human mind, and to use that understanding for good.
It begins with people. Your first two years unfold at KCIC, Chennai, earning a UK-regulated Higher National Diploma in Counselling and Applied Psychology. Empathic communication, ethics, reflective practice and the great theories of counselling, learnt with care and supervised practice.
Then, two years at Ulster University’s Coleraine campus, on the banks of the River Bann. You enter the second year of a degree accredited by the British Psychological Society, studying the science of the mind in depth: how we develop, how we think, how we relate to one another, and what happens in the brain as we do.
You graduate with the full BSc (Hons) Psychology from Ulster University. A degree that opens the path to postgraduate training in clinical, counselling, health, forensic and occupational psychology, and to every profession where understanding people matters.
The School of Psychology Where the science of the mind meets the art of helping.
At Ulster, psychology is taught by a dedicated team of psychologists, many recognised for research excellence, and the majority Fellows of the Higher Education Academy, some honoured for innovative teaching.
You train in the scientific methods of enquiry through laboratory-based practical classes, building statistical and computing skills that set psychology graduates apart.
And excellence is recognised: the British Psychological Society Undergraduate Award honours the final-year student with the highest overall degree performance.
