Program Overview

Technology now powers almost every industry. Banking, healthcare, retail, manufacturing and logistics increasingly depend on software, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, data and artificial intelligence. For Indian students, this creates enormous opportunity—but also intense competition.

India produces a large number of computing graduates every year. Knowing programming languages alone is no longer enough. Employers increasingly look for professionals who can solve real problems, secure digital systems, work with cloud technologies, analyse data and build AI-enabled applications.

For parents and students, the important question is therefore not simply, “Which computing degree should I choose?” It is, “Will this programme prepare me for the technology careers of the next decade?”

At KCIC, students begin with the Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computing and complete the first two years of undergraduate study in Chennai. Learning is practical and assignment-based, with projects and applied problem-solving across cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, artificial intelligence and software development.

After completing the HND, eligible students can progress through KCIC’s university pathways using a lateral-entry system. Instead of restarting from Year 1, students can enter directly into the later or final stages of an eligible bachelor’s degree in Australia, the UK or New Zealand, subject to university requirements.

For Indian families, this can also make international education more affordable by completing the first two years in Chennai and paying overseas tuition and living expenses only for the remaining period abroad.

Further studies / Careers

After completing the first two years BTEC HND diploma, students can continue their BSc/BEng/BTech studies overseas through established articulation and advanced-entry (lateral entry) pathways. Students progress into Years 3 and 4 of a Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Australia, UK, Europe and US. KCIC’s university pathway network includes institutions such as RMIT University, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), University of Newcastle, Charles Strut University, Heriot-Watt University, University of Essex, Ulster University, and other 450+ partner universities accepting BTEC HND Diploma.

Entry Criteria

You must have subject specific grades - 70% in Mathematics & English at Grade 11 and/or 12 or equivalent qualifications from a recognised board.

Study Journey from KCIC to Study Abroad

Year 1
Foundation - HNC

You'll build strong computing foundations alongside industry-relevant technical skills, developing core capabilities in programming, discrete mathematics, data structures, databases, and computer systems. The program builds coding fluency, algorithmic thinking, and structured problem-solving — using industry-standard tools such as Python, Java, SQL, Git, Linux, and VS Code — preparing you to operate effectively in modern, technology-driven computing environments.

Year 2
Advanced - HND

Select your specialisation and progress into advanced, industry-aligned study. The program offers five pathways: Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity. Students deepen technical expertise within their chosen field, apply principles to complex computing problems, and build the critical evaluation, design, and decision-making skills needed to transition into Year 3 abroad — where specialised laboratories, research infrastructure, and industry-facing projects take centre stage.

Year 3
Bachelor’s Uni Transfer

Based on your chosen specialisation and university, you transfer abroad together as a cohort, ensuring a supported transition with familiar peers and consistent academic progression. Year 3 shifts learning from theory to application, with access to advanced laboratories — AI and robotics labs, cybersecurity suites, software engineering studios, high-performance computing clusters, and industry-facing project environments — at RMIT, UTS, Heriot-Watt, and Ulster.

Year 4
Bachelor’s Hons

In your final year, you undertake major capstone projects, research-led development, and industry-embedded placements, applying computing principles to real-world challenges across AI, cybersecurity, software systems, and data science. You work with industry-standard platforms such as TensorFlow, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and Agile frameworks — building the expertise expected of graduate computing professionals entering global industry.

Year 5
Global Work Experience

Upon graduation, students receive a full international degree and are eligible for an 18–24 month post-study work visa, allowing them to stay and seek employment. This visa permits full-time work and does not require employer sponsorship.

The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computing is a UK Level 5 qualification, broadly comparable to the first two years of a bachelor’s degree. It is regulated by Ofqual – the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation – and widely recognised by universities, professional bodies and employers across 100+ countries, supporting international progression and career opportunities.

Exemptions

BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) students at KCIC receive up to two years of advanced standing exemption at eligible partner universities and universities within the wider Pearson progression network worldwide, allowing them to enter directly into year 3 of a related bachelor’s degree, subject to university-specific entry and credit requirements.
