Program Overview

This programme is delivered in collaboration with Ulster University and is a structured international transfer pathway that enables students to progress efficiently towards a globally recognised Bachelor's degree in Psychology while developing evidence-based, practice-ready skills.

Students begin with 2 years of Bachelor's-level study at KCIC, Chennai, building a strong foundation across core psychological disciplines. The curriculum integrates competencies including cognitive and biological psychology, research methods and statistical analysis, developmental and social psychology, and abnormal and clinical psychology. These skills reflect the growing global demand for psychologically informed professionals across healthcare, education, business, and social services.

Upon successful completion, students transfer to Ulster University with advanced standing, entering directly into Year 3 of the BSc (Hons) programme and completing their full Honours degree in the UK. Graduates progress into careers across healthcare, counselling, human resources, education, and research — sectors that actively recruit from Ulster University, one of the UK's leading institutions for psychology education and applied research.

Ulster University's Psychology programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), granting graduates the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) — the essential foundation for professional registration and postgraduate training in clinical, educational, forensic, and occupational psychology.

Graduates of the BSc (Hons) Psychology can pursue a range of postgraduate pathways. Professional doctorate routes include the DClinPsy, Doctorate in Educational Psychology, Counselling Psychology, and Forensic Psychology, all leading to HCPC registration. Specialist MSc programmes span Clinical, Health, Forensic, Organisational, Neuropsychology, and Sports Psychology. Research-oriented graduates can pursue MPhil or PhD programmes.

Entry Criteria

Eligibility requires completion of A levels or 10+2 from any recognised national or international board with a minimum of 70% in English language proficiency and have taken humanities subjects. After submitting the application, students may be required to attend a personal interview or aptitude test.

Study Journey from KCIC to Study Abroad

Year 1
KCIC

Develop core psychological literacy and counselling foundations, including human behaviour, mental health frameworks, and person-centred theory. Practical communication, active listening, and empathetic engagement skills are built through 100 hours of supervised placement in real counselling settings. Professional ethics, safeguarding awareness, and reflective practice are embedded throughout, while emotional intelligence and self-awareness are cultivated to prepare students for responsible, client-facing roles across health, social care, and community support environments.

Year 2
KCIC (or) UK

Students deepen applied counselling competence, developing advanced therapeutic skills including structured assessment, case conceptualisation, and evidence-based intervention planning. Research literacy is strengthened through project-based enquiry, preparing students to critically evaluate psychological literature and contribute to practice development. Professional identity, ethical decision-making, and reflective supervision skills are consolidated through continued supervised placement hours. Students also develop specialised understanding of mental health conditions, diversity in counselling practice, and the ability to work autonomously within professional frameworks

Year 3
UK

Deepens scientific understanding of brain-behaviour relationships through Cognitive Psychology and Psychobiology, while Developmental Psychology explores human growth across the lifespan. Social Psychology builds insight into group behaviour, attitude formation, and social influence. Individual Differences examines personality, intelligence, and human variability. Advanced Research Methods strengthens quantitative analysis and critical evaluation skills, equipping students to design and interpret psychological research with academic rigour.

Year 4
Final Year

Complete an independent research project, developing advanced study design, data analysis, and academic writing skills. The Psychology at Work module applies psychological theory to real-world professional challenges. Optional specialisations spanning forensic, health, clinical, counselling, sport, and neuropsychology allow students to tailor their expertise. Graduates leave with the critical thinking, research autonomy, and applied competence required for professional practice, postgraduate training, or careers across psychology's diverse specialisms.

Year 5
Work Experience

Upon graduation, students receive a full international degree and are eligible for an 18–24 month post-study work visa, allowing them to stay and seek employment. This visa permits full-time work and does not require employer sponsorship.
