Computing Science
Develop skills across computing, software and emerging technologies, with progression routes into international technology degrees.
Overview
The world now runs on code. This programme teaches you to write it, secure it and shape what it becomes.
It is a degree for those who want to understand computing at its foundations, and to apply it with imagination: in software, in networks, and in the systems that keep the world connected and safe.
Your first two years unfold at KCIC, Chennai, earning a UK-regulated Higher National Diploma in Computing. Programming, networking, databases and security form your foundation, before you choose your direction: Computing, Network Engineering or Cyber Security.
Then, two years in Belfast at Ulster University. You enter the second year of a degree accredited by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, taught within a School of Computing where research shapes every module, from cloud-native development to artificial intelligence.
You graduate with the full BSc (Hons) Computing Science from Ulster University. A degree that opens the doors of global technology firms, financial institutions and the consultancies that advise them.
The School of Computing Where tomorrow’s technology is taught by those who build it.
At Ulster, computing is taught by academics active in research, from computer vision and AI to edge intelligence and enterprise networks. One in five teaching staff holds a professorship, and the great majority are recognised Fellows of the Higher Education Academy.
Programming laboratories emphasise small-group tutoring, supported by graduate demonstrators and programming clinics through every year of study.
And the degree carries the recognition of the profession: BCS accreditation that fully meets the academic requirement for Chartered IT Professional registration, and for Incorporated Engineer status.
